Purpose of The Site

This web site was set up to allow people to share their views on places, products and services. So that people can make more informed decisions about how they spend their time and money. Whilst helping providers to find out what people think of them and helping those with a good product let people know about it.

How The Site Works

The opinions on this Site are the opinions of people who use the site, not of the people who run the site. There fore all the reviews you'll find here are the opinions of real people, not critics. You can also see whether people agree with the review and say whether you agree or not.

There are many different guides that are divided into different sections - such as entertainment and going out, outdoors and fitness, holidays etc. Each section has a variety of guides inside featuring reviews. You can search these in two ways. Either for a group of reviews, this is where reviews on the same product, place or service are grouped together. Or you can search for individual reviews. This option normally has more choices to search by as is appropriate to the individual guide.

You can write your own reviews at any time. You just need to be a member of the site to do so. Then you can share your experiences with other users and let them benefit from your experiences.

If there is an advert at the top of the review page clicking it will either link to the advertisers own site or an advertisers page on this site. There the advertiser can put important information like opening times, menus, location, services etc. Anything they think is relevant.

This website was started in 2004 by Nathan Gardiner. I'd like to thank all my friends and family who have advised, helped and supported me in setting up this site. Also to Ben Forta, Nate Weis, Leon Chalnick and Angela Buraglia who wrote the macromedia coldfusion mx web application construction kit. Whose fine book taught me how to create this site. I hope you find this site useful and enjoy using it.

Reviews on YourEGuides

Reviews on this site are written by members of the public, who are members of this website. The opinions in them are their own and are not the opinions of the website or the people who run them. You can see what other people think of the reviews and how accurate they might be by looking at the number of people who think the review is good or bad at the bottom of each review. You can vote yourself if you are a member, logged in and it's not your own review.

As a member of this site you can write your own reviews and vote on what you think of other peoples reviews. You can write reviews about anything that could be covered by one of YourEGuides sections whether its been reviewed before or not.

To mark out people who have wrote a lot of reviews medals appear after their username on the individual review screen (not the page for groups of reviews) denoting gold, silver and bronze. The table beneath shows the various icons and what is needed to get them. In addition to the medals you may see wise and V wise icons, these are where a high number of people agree with the users reviews. If a reviewer doesn't have them it doesn't make it a bad review, as you need a lot of votes on their reviews before these icons occur.
